The UAS pathway, part of the Digital Technology cluster, provides high school students with opportunities to develop drone-related flight skills and data processing capabilities needed for careers in the growing UAS industry.

Students receive instruction in flight characteristics, drone operation, navigation, autonomous mission planning, remote sensing, data collection, and data processing as it relates to geographic information systems (GIS). The program also emphasizes maintenance and troubleshooting of electronics and avionics associated with various UAS types.

Local, national, and international airspace regulations and compliance are key components of the curriculum, ensuring students understand the responsibilities associated with drone operation.

During the second year of the program, students have the opportunity to test for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 Certification, preparing them for continued education or entry into UAS-related careers.
